Become a Pharmacy Technician
This program will prepare you to enter the pharmacy field and to pursue certification including the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. This course covers the following key areas and topics: pharmacy calculations, medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, skills to read and interpret prescriptions, review of the top 200 drugs, skills to identify drugs by generic and brand names, dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, and dose conversions, and dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement. Breakdancing 101 (Ages 10-14)
Breakdancing is the most athletic and acrobatic branch of hip-hop dance. Young dancers will learn the value of hard work, determination, commitment and repetition through positive reinforcement and fun filled challenges. Classes will incorporate a fun, safe and efficient pathway to learning breakdancing starting with basic hip-hop dance moves then transition to more challenging breakdancing concepts under the instruction of Onsite Youth Training instructors. Young dancers will end each semester with a mini performance to display their newly acquired skills. Students should wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and bring a water bottle to class.
A Tour of Bavaria - German Schnitzel & Potato Salad
Bring an apron, roll up your sleeves and learn how to prepare Schnitzel and German potato salad. German Schnitzel is made with pork and is served with a vinegar-based potato salad - it's the best! German native Andrea Meyer will share her tips and tricks for creating this quintessential German dish. Every tourist to Germany has had Schnitzel, and now you can learn how to make it - perfectly - in your own kitchen! Treat yourself to this fun, hands-on cooking class. Please bring a to-go container, apron and a $13 food fee, which is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.
Stop Motion Movie Magic (Ages 8-14)
Turn dreams into reality using stop-motion animation and digital post-production editing to create short movies. This introductory class teaches students the basics of incorporating special effects, enabling them to experience the overall movie making adventure. The students will create multiple films that could include: brick films (aka LEGO® movies), pixilation, object animation, graphic animation or claymation. Students should bring a flashdrive to take their movie home. Instruction provided by Bits, Bytes, & Bots of San Antonio.
Spring Detox - Feel Better, Look Better, Be Better
Why spring detoxification? Why choose foods according to the season? Learn how to restore and rejuvenate your health. Andrea Meyer, Chopra Center Certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Educator will guide you through Ayurvedic cleansing practices that will help bring clarity and renewed energy into your life. This workshop includes a 7-day detox plan and detox tea. A $5 supply fee is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class.
Elements of Effective Web Design
If you are thinking about building a website or you already build websites, this class is for you. There are numerous critical elements that go into designing an effective site. This course takes you through the best practices of search engine, lightweight landing page, effective information layout (content and display), easy to navigate and the importance of a site with no errors. Join web designer Bill Kanyusik as he guides you through the process of creating your dream website.
King William District Social Paddle
Are you looking for a fun date idea or a new activity to do with friends? Join Mission Adventure Tours on a social kayaking paddle trip. During this trip, you will paddle around the King William District section of the San Antonio River. This is an up and back trip. Extend the fun and stay after to join the group at a local restaurant for food and beverages of your choice. You must be 21+ to attend this class. Food and beverage is not included. No discount.
Medication Aide Certification
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) can complete this additional training to become certified to dispense medication to patients while working under the supervision of a Registered nurse. This class is approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services and meets the required 140 hours. The state exam is scheduled at the end of the class. Eligibility requirements include: employment in a nursing home as a certified nurse aide with 90 days experience during the past year and a high school diploma or GED. Tuition includes text.
