A Very Minecraft® Christmas (Ages 8-14)

Calling all Minecraft® enthusiasts! Build Santa’s workshop inside the amazing world of Minecraft®. Students will learn about engineering, problem solving and basic coding as they program Santa’s elves (turtle robots) to harvest resources, build basic structures and more! They will also harness the power of redstone (in-game electricity) to build Christmas themed decorations and contraptions. Your kids will think they’re playing a game, but you know better! Acoustic & Electric Guitar for Youth (Ages 6-17)

Does your child want to learn how to play the guitar? In this group class they will learn how to play the guitar the smart way. Young musicians will learn chords and easy music theory to better understand how a song works. The possibilities are endless when music is understood at a fundamental level. Students should bring a guitar and their desire to learn and they’ll be playing songs in just a few weeks. Instruction provided by Giovani Reyes of StringTheory6 LLC. Arabic Language and Culture Workshop (Ages 4-8)

Culturingua will spark your child’s curiosity about the Arabic language and Arab culture in this weekend workshop. Younger students, ages 4-8, will learn how to speak about shapes and colors and then create geometric tessellation artwork. Instructors will focus on a positive attitude, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take with them beyond the training and into the home, classroom, playground and team sports settings. All participants will be required to wear athletic shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Students should bring a personal water bottle to class each. All fitness equipment will be provided.

The CKO Kickboxing gym has developed a curriculum specifically for kids! Mad Science Explorations (Ages 6-12)

Explore the world of science! Young scientists will discover space travel as they prep their “egg-stronaut” for flight. Students will problem solve ways to build a flying orbiter and design a crash test helmet to protect their “egg-celent” partner. Additional science explorations include; using the rays of the sun to change the color of beads and to turn a shadow into a picture; figuring out the trick of tight ropes with the help of a balancing friend; and sending friends secret messages using chemical reactions. With the help of Mad Science of Austin and San Antonio, students will discover their scientific passion by exploring life, earth and physical science.

Doorway to College Foundation presents a five-hour seminar that will allow students to become more familiar with the SAT while providing an opportunity to improve their scores. Although time and effort spent working on materials covered in class is a factor, experience shows that this seminar is effective! Students who take this seminar achieve an average score increase of 50 to 200 points on the SAT. Taking on the role of Cinderella, the Prince, and other characters, students will practice Spanish vocabulary in settings such as performing chores, buying groceries, trying on clothes and interacting with friends and family. The class will culminate with a final performance for parents. This class is taught according to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages guidelines, and a majority of the class time is taught in Spanish. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required.
