Art Starz (Grades 1-5)

Join us for some creative FUN as we explore drawing, painting and clay sculpture. Students are taught by a professional artist and will learn basic art principles such as composition, color theory and critical thinking skills. They will paint in watercolor and acrylics; draw with pencils and soft pastels; create and paint a clay sculpture that is “TEXAS” friendly and will be kiln fired to last a lifetime! All supplies are of professional quality. A supply fee of $35 can be paid to My Art Starz by calling 210-945-4411, bringing payment the first day of class or by paying online at www.myartstarz.com. Tuition of $179.00 to be paid separately to NEISD Community Ed.

Athletic Movement & Development (Grades K-5)

Uplifted Performance and Fitness offers students the chance to enhance fundamental athletic skills plus body and movement development in a fun, interactive environment. Each week will consist of learning a new skill or two with increasing challenges in agility ladders, hurdles, cones and medicine balls that will develop both physical-cardio-vascular health and confidence. We will end each class practicing and drilling the learned skills that will help students transition into other sports. At Uplifted Performance and Fitness we also focus on a positive attitude, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take with them beyond the training and into the home, classroom, playground and team sports settings. All participants will be required to wear athletic shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Students should bring a personal water bottle to class each. All fitness equipment will be provided.

B3: Fairy Tale Engineering! (Grades K-3)

Fairytales will come to life as students brainstorm, design, build and test engineering challenges to solve problems for our fairytale characters! Can your child come up with an alternate ending to Hansel and Gretel? Can they design a house of straw that will withstand the mighty wind of the Big Bad Wolf? How tall can Jack's Beanstalk grow? The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and her prince also need help! Students will answer these questions and MUCH more in this exciting engineering class. Each class holds engineering feats while reinforcing the engineer design process. There is a one-time $10 supply fee payable to instructor on the first day of class to cover class consumables. Instruction is provided by the Whole Child Learning Company.

Basketball After School (Grades 1-5)

Are your kids ready to have fun with basketball? This course is designed for young athletes to have an opportunity to learn and improve on their fundamental skills of basketball. We will develop these skills, such as passing, dribbling, shooting and more, through specific and proven developmental drills, playing 3 on 3 and playing 5 on 5 games. Bits, Bytes & Bots: 3D Video Game Making with Kodu (Grades 3-5)

Has your child ever wanted to build their own racing game? Here's their chance! Microsoft’s Kodu is a visual programming language (similar to scratch) that is used to create video games. Students will learn the basics of 3D game design by creating multiple games in this class. Conditional formatting will be mastered by the time they build their final project… a serious racing game. When skill behind the wheel isn’t enough, students create power-ups to stun their opponents including ray guns, land mines, force fields and more! Do your children love LEGO® bricks? Do they like to build? Do robots excite them? Then this program is for them! The new EV3 Mindstorms® kits have arrived and we have them! These exciting robotics classes combine the fun of building robots with the ability to program them to do what you want. No experience is required. Students will learn about if/then logic, loops and other basic programming tools while having tons of fun. If you want your child to embrace STEM, choose this path. Bits, Bytes & Bots: Minecraft® Coding (Grades 3-5)

If your kids love Minecraft™ and spend hours moving blocks around and generally just clicking away, let us elevate their game. We will use redstone (in-game electricity) to help the kids make sophisticated traps and contraptions while learning about engineering and problem solving. We also introduce them to a game modification that we use several times to CODE inside the game. If they're going to play anyway, let's turn their passion into a massive critical thinking experience. Instruction provided by Bits, Bytes, & Bots. Note: This class is for new and returning Minecraft students. 75% of the contraptions/coding will be on the same level, but different applications as Minecraft Machinery.

Brainiac: Reading & Literacy Program (Grades K-2)

The Brainiac Reading and Literacy Program is designed to meet emerging and beginning readers at their developmental level to build and support language and literacy. This program incorporates reading, writing, oral language, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension all within the context of stories and books. The program is flexible and highly individualized, using whole group, small group and individual instruction to meet the needs of varying ages and developmental levels in one classroom. Chess Academy (Grades 2-5)

From beginner to intermediate, students will learn how to play and use strategies to become a chess master! Students will learn strategies and piece placement as well as the history of chess and where it is headed. Chess is a great game that has many positive benefits to include critical thinking skills, mathematics, spatial memory, planning, strategic thinking and more. Drama Kids International - Spring Semester (Grades K-5)

To be happy and successful in today’s highly competitive world, your child needs to be confident and articulate. Whether destined for the stage or the boardroom, Drama Kids prepares children and young adults to speak up clearly with confidence, putting them on an easier path for lifelong success. Our acclaimed program encompasses a large volume of fun drama activities aimed at increasing confidence, self-esteem and verbal skills. These activities include: Speech, Creative Movement, Structured Improvisations, Dialogue Development and Mini-Scripts. Enthusiastic participation is encouraged. No wallflowers! No background characters! Everyone is a star and everyone participates fully! The spring semester concludes with a Spring Presentation Performance with awards. A spring performance fee of $10 for students re-enrolling from fall to spring, and $30 for new spring students, is due to the instructor on the first day of class. iPianoLab (Grades K-5)

iPianoLab is a fresh, fun way to learn piano or keyboard. iPianoLab sets up a portable keyboard lab at school, with a keyboard and headphones for all participants! Students learn all the keyboard basics while learning to play songs they love. Whether it's pop hits from Taylor Swift or One Republic, game themes like Super Mario and Legends of Zelda, show themes like Star Wars or Spongebob, even the classics of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, they're all in reach, right from the first lesson. iPianoLab isn't just fun, it's a progressive keyboard method that teaches all the basic keyboard skills, including note-reading, rhythm and counting, chords and much more. This fun group environment also includes learning games and interactive online help. Classes are kept small with a 1:9 teacher student ratio. Instruction is provided by iPianoLab.

Kids in Motion Hip Hop (Grades K-5)

Get your child active and groovin’ to age appropriate music and yoga inspired exercises. This hip-hop and fitness class is designed to encourage your young dancer to have fun and stay healthy through music and art. Students will learn the newest dance moves, as well as some old-school favorites! Young dancers will work on choreography and solo dance moves to be performed at the end of each semester. Instruction is provided by Onsite Youth Training.

Mad Science: Secret Agent Lab & More! (Grades K-5)

Young scientists will encounter the science of secret agents in a fun, hands-on environment that incorporates the educational standards required by the STAAR test. Join Mad Science for an amazing session with a new topic each week! The topics include: Discover Detection, Junior Detectives, Spy Academy, Agent Undercover, Sleuths on the Scene, Whodunit, Che-mystery, Funky Forensics, Crime Lab, Get Connected, Science of Security and Sneaky Science to give your junior agent a total of 12 weeks of science fun! Young scientists will learn all about analyzing evidence, forensics, chemistry, investigative science, the secrets of spies and more! In addition, young scientists have the opportunity to continue exploring at home with their own take home projects after each lesson.

Robotics Clubs USA: LEGO® Planes, Trains & Automobiles (Grades 2-5)

To move or not to move, that is the question! Students will explore, build and examine various LEGO® vehicles discussing how they might improve, create or even reverse engineer a scaled static model. Creative discussions are used to help develop an understanding of the principles of flight, how airports work, vehicle assembly as well as examine different types of transportation methods. Critical thinking, problem solving and building self-confidence are all encouraged through the guidance of Robotics Clubs USA instructors.

Simply Soccer (Grades K-5)

SimplySoccerSA offers young athletes the chance to learn fundamental skills and terminology of the great game of soccer. Each week will consist of learning a new skill or two to include dribbling, passing, shooting and control. We will end each class practicing learned skills in a game like setting. At SimplySoccerSA we also focus on character, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take beyond the soccer field. All participants will be required to wear tennis shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Water for breaks and all equipment such as soccer balls, cones and goals will be provided. Classes will be held outside in the fields and will be moved into a gym on inclement weather days (to include days with extreme heat).

Snapology: Real World Robotics (Grades 2-5)

Technology comes alive as students create robotic models inspired by real life robotic technologies. Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, simple machines and programming as they build alarm devices, earthquake detectors, robotic arms and much more. Your child will have a blast exploring the world of robotic technologies as they build, learn and play with Snapology! Critical thinking is activated during each class as they develop a deeper understanding of mechanics and learn programming skills to operate their robotic builds.

Texas Cheer (Grades K-5)

Students will learn all the basics of cheerleading, including cheer stunt instruction, jumps, motions and more in a dynamic environment. They will also have the option to perform in the Texas Cheer and Dance shows throughout the year, including a Spurs Game performance. Although optional, uniforms will be discussed during the first class. Instruction provided by Texas Cheer and Dance.

Developed by education experts, PGA and LPGA professionals, this program focuses on instilling a passion for golf, developing skills, having fun and building confidence. All equipment will be provided. Maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1. Instruction provided by TGA North San Antonio.
