Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Aikido are both internal martial arts that rely on generating and controlling internal energy (qi or ki) rather than muscular strength, making internal arts an excellent choice for self-defense for smaller, older or less fit individuals. This training will allow you to control and redirect aggressive energy from assailants so their power dissipates. This permits you to defeat larger, stronger opponents by using their own strength against them.
