Language & Communication - Beginning French

An introductory course that focuses on understanding and speaking French. This course emphasizes the acquisition of “survival French” - being able to ask for and understand directions to various places, how to ask for and understand how much something costs, how to order food in a restaurant, being able to obtain phone numbers and travel information and other basic phrases that would be useful when traveling to a French speaking country. Français Interactif, a free, open access web site, will be used for vocabulary and various activities. The book, Français Interactif is available for purchase online but can be accessed for free via smartphone or laptop with an internet connection. Instructor Jessica McConnell has a bachelor’s degree in French from Western Michigan University and is currently a NEISD French teacher.
