Acoustic & Electric Guitar for Youth, Beginning 1 (Ages 6-17)

Does your child want to learn how to play the guitar? In this group class they will learn how to play the guitar the smart way. Young musicians will learn chords and easy music theory to better understand how a song works. The possibilities are endless when music is understood at a fundamental level. Students should bring a guitar and their desire to learn and they’ll be playing songs in just a few weeks. Instruction provided by Giovani Reyes of String Theory 6.

Art Starz: Canvas Kids (Ages 6+)

Young artists will have a blast painting animals, still lifes and landscapes using a step-by-step method. Art Starz instructors will cover basic color theory and fun techniques that can be used to produce magnificent paintings every time. Your young artist will paint at least one large painting on canvas and one mini canvas with an easel as well as various sizes in between. A $20 supply fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

Art Starz: Cartoon Drawing (Ages 8+)

Does your child have a knack for doodling? Experienced Art Starz instructors will guide young cartoonists in creating a variety of drawings as well as their own original characters. Students will produce a 3-panel comic strip and learn to incorporate word bubbles, inking and other elements of interest. Various hand-made animation devices such as flip books and an animation wheel will also be created. Learning continues with tricks of famous cartoonists, optical illusions and an explanation on how cartoon movies work. A $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

Art Starz: Let's Go to the Movies! (Ages 6+)

Kid's movies are full of memorable roles from Micky Mouse to Sheriff Woody and Olaf to Dory. These beloved characters will inspire young artists and get their creative juices flowing in this fun-filled class. With pencil and paintbrush in hand, students will create popular scenes and characters through acrylics on canvas, watercolor, pastels, cartooning and more. Instruction provided by Art Starz. Art Starz: Studio Drawing (Ages 8+)

First learn to see, then learn to draw. Young artists will learn tips and techniques from an Art Starz artist and how to draw like a pro! Students will have fun warming up with a variety of challenging exercises designed to help them identify value, proportions and composition. They will draw from still lifes and work with other resource materials, such as photos of wild animals and pets. Special techniques like drawing fur and animal's eyes so that they look realistic will also be covered. Students will use a variety of dry media including charcoal, chalk pastel, high quality drawing pencils and colored pencils on paper. A $10 supply fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of class.

Calling all young painters! Grab a cup of water and a paintbrush and join Art Starz as we wander into the world of watercolors and acrylics. Two scores taken from the ASVAB determine your acceptance to the military as well as which job assignment you quality for after enlistment. Bricks, Bots & Beakers presents this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) class for younger students! Students will experiment with a variety of materials as they build and freeze to make scientific observations. They will also make a variety of art projects that teach scientific ideas. Concepts include: coding; molecular structure; freezing point; absorbing and dissolving liquids; states of matter and making frost/ice; chemistry and engineering; artistic design, mathematics and more! Basketball - Shoot, Score, Defend (Ages 7-12)

Designs come to life with beautifully patterned papers, ribbons, sequins, jewels and oodles of other embellishments. Inside the SAT (Ages 15-17)

Experience shows that students who take this workshop achieve an average score increase of 5 to 20 points on the PSAT, and 50 to 200 points on the SAT. Young dancers will move and groove as they explore self-expression through the arts. Classes start off with a fun and creative urban art lesson. Then we wipe our hands clean and get funky with an active breakdancing session. Our week long workshops are great for first time dancers and we keep lessons challenging for our more experienced students. Student artwork and dance moves will be shown off to family and friends at our end of program art show at Brick inside Blue Star, located in downtown San Antonio. This class is a great introduction to dance. Class curriculum includes proper placement, dance terminology, rhythm, steps, spacing and counting basics along with fun and entertaining dance combinations. Some dream about goals... we make them. TX Youth Sports teaches fundamental drills and skills that will take your child's soccer experience to the next level. Working in small groups and individually, students will learn essential drills to include: passing and receiving the ball; using speed and space effectively; scoring and more! Daily scrimmages will provide an opportunity to practice the developed skills while having a fun time. Class is held indoors and both boys and girls are encouraged to attend. Doorway to College Foundation introduces students to powerful techniques to make studying effective, efficient and even fun in this interactive workshop. ZAPPING the ACT (Ages 15-17)

This intensive strategy workshop will help high school students become familiar with the ACT and learn highly effective strategies, time-management techniques, and study tips to improve their scores and reduce test anxiety. Students will receive a comprehensive study guide and four booklets (English, Math, Reading and Science) with a total of 24 shortened practice tests. Zumba® Kids Dance (Ages 5-12)

Zumba® Kids classes are rockin’, high energy dance parties that develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness by making it FUN! Classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba® choreography. Certified Zumba® Kids instructors from Athletes Global will break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements within the class structure. This is a non-competitive class and is centered on creating a FUN atmosphere for children of all shapes, sizes and abilities to enjoy.
