A Very Minecraft® Christmas (Ages 8-14)

Calling all Minecraft® enthusiasts! Build Santa’s workshop inside the amazing world of Minecraft®. Students will learn about engineering, problem solving and basic coding as they program Santa’s elves (turtle robots) to harvest resources, build basic structures and more! They will also harness the power of redstone (in-game electricity) to build Christmas themed decorations and contraptions. Your kids will think they’re playing a game, but you know better! Basketball: Skills, Drills & Training (Ages 10-12, Grades 4-6)

Dribble, pass, shoot, score with TX Youth Sports! Young athletes will learn to dream big and love basketball while improving their skills and abilities. Focal points include: dribbling, passing, catching, pivoting, footwork for layups, shooting, spacing, fitness, fun and more. Several classes will also include competitive drills and scrimmages. Although this course is not a league and uniforms will not be issued, young athletes will train to build the fundamental skills needed to play basketball effectively. Students should bring a basketball and personal water bottle to each class.

Breakdancing (Ages 5-9)

Breakdancing is the most athletic and acrobatic branch of hip-hop dance. Young dancers will learn the value of hard work, determination, commitment and repetition through positive reinforcement and fun filled challenges. Classes will incorporate a fun, safe and efficient pathway to learning breakdancing starting with basic hip-hop dance moves then transition to more challenging breakdancing concepts under the instruction of Onsite Youth Training instructors. Young dancers will end the semester with a mini performance to display their newly acquired skills. Students should wear comfortable clothing, tennis shoes and bring a water bottle to each class.

Creative Cooking – Southern Dishes (Ages 6+)

Take a step back in time and enjoy classic Southern dishes that will bring back memories and keep your taste buds rollin’. Instructor Kit Myers will bring life hacks and recipe variations from three generations! Relying on handwritten family recipes, you and your child will create some fun, easy and nutritious dishes from Critters on a Log and Autumn Apple Sauce to Florentine Frittata, Crispy Chicken Fingers and more! Registration fee covers one adult and one child. All supplies are included – just bring a hungry tummy and get ready for a smashin’ good time.

Expressive Movement for Toddlers (Ages 2-3)

Toddlers and pre-schoolers will enjoy exploring expressive and artistic movements in this introductory dance class. Curriculum includes a combination of pre-ballet basic dance movements using visual arts, props and story-telling dance themes along with entertaining and inspiring children’s dance music. Ballet shoes are required for this class. Girls may wear a black leotard, pink tights and hair up in a neat bun. Boys may wear a white t-shirt and black dance shorts. Family Fairy Gardening (Ages 5-12)

Grownups grab your little ones (ages 5-12) and bring them to an afternoon of fairy gardening! Adults and kids alike will have fun choosing their container, picking their plants and fairies and customizing their fairy gardens by using their imagination. Bring your own container (10x10x4 is best) or purchase one from the instructor and come prepared to get a little dirty! A $30 supply fee, payable to the instructor at the beginning of class, covers all materials for your fairy garden. Tuition and supply fee is for one fairy garden. Marianne Rodriguez owns Whimsical Fairy Gardens and has been gardening for over 20 years.

Gingerbread Workshop (Ages 5+)

Enjoy quality time with your youngster as you create a gingerbread house from scratch. Guided by Kit Myers and her experienced gingerbread angels, you'll tell your own family story in gingerbread. This 90 minute instructional workshop includes step-by-step guidance, from assembly to decorating and even landscaping. Kit has done all the planning, baking and shopping so you can focus on creating memories with your family. All materials are included, just bring your imagination! Painting with Your Mama Llama (Ages 6+)

Put a splash of color in your Saturday morning and join My Art Starz for some creative family FUN! In need of some painting pointers? No prob-llama! Painters will be guided through the process of creating an acrylic llama painting on an 8”x10” stretched canvas. Tips and techniques will be taught along the way as you design a painting that will be uniquely yours. Parents, siblings and extended family members are all welcome to come and paint with your “Leading Llama." Adult and child will need to register separately. All supplies are included.

PSAT/SAT Seminar (Grades 9-11)

Doorway to College Foundation presents a five-hour seminar which will allow students to become more familiar with the PSAT/SAT while providing an opportunity to improve their scores. Although time and effort spent working on materials covered in class is a factor, experience shows that this seminar is effective! Students who take this seminar achieve an average score increase of 5 to 20 points on the PSAT and 50 to 200 points on the SAT. Public Speaking for Youth (Ages 13-17)

Does public speaking give your student the jitters? Students will learn to take control of their voice and speak with confidence through games and activities that will help build focus, posture, eye contact and more. With a little training using voice exercises and exploring proper emotions to convey the right message, students will excel in basic school activities such as reading aloud, presenting, participating in group discussions and eventually in job interviews and board presentations! Students should wear shin guards as well as bring a soccer ball and a personal water bottle to each class. Training will take place in an air-conditioned gym.

Stop Motion Movie Magic (Ages 8-14)

Turn dreams into reality using stop-motion animation and digital post-production editing to create short movies. This introductory class teaches students the basics of incorporating special effects, enabling them to experience the overall movie making adventure. The students will create multiple films that could include: brick films (aka LEGO® movies), pixilation, object animation, graphic animation or claymation. Students should bring a flashdrive to take their movie home. Instruction provided by Bits, Bytes, & Bots of San Antonio.
