ALIR - Ancient Technology

The ancient civilizations were remarkably innovative and creative using simple tools to create lasting structures. This course will investigate early examples of inventions and technology developed by Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Chinese inventors/engineers and the effect on their civilizations. We will view the Great Courses® DVD "Understanding Greek and Roman Technology" supplemented by articles from "Ancient Inventions" by P. James and N. Thorpe and "A History of Mechanical Engineering" by A.F. Burstall.
