Creative Expressions - Fundamentals of Professional Songwriting

Part lecture and part workshop, this class covers applications of the writing process, using both lyric and melody. Topics include creative usage of vocabulary and themes for lyric composition, rhyme structure and meter, creation of original melodies using basic theory, performance and recording techniques, critical listening, publishing contracts and understanding of songwriting in the publishing and recording industries, as well as the culture at large. Instructor Renee' Coale Willis has over 30 years experience in the country music industry as a professional singer/songwriter.
