Art Starz (Grades 1-5)

Join us for some creative FUN as we explore drawing, painting and clay sculpture. Students are taught by a professional artist and will learn basic art principles such as composition, color theory and critical thinking skills. They will paint in watercolor and acrylics; draw with pencils and soft pastels; create and paint a clay sculpture that is “TEXAS” friendly and will be kiln fired to last a lifetime! All supplies are of professional quality. A supply fee of $35 can be paid to My Art Starz by calling 210-945-4411, bringing payment the first day of class or by paying online at www.myartstarz.com. Tuition of $179.00 to be paid separately to NEISD Community Ed.

B3: Junior Robotics (Grades K-2)

Bricks, Bots and Beakers (B3) introduces young students to the fascinating world of robots. Students will develop knowledge of robot parts and functions (such as actuators, sensors and circuit boards) as well as experience hands on programing and coding. Students will also understand electrical circuitry as they experiment with a variety of circuit boards. Robotic concepts to include "Humanoid/non-humanoid" and "Bot or not" will be covered and older students will use the LEGO® WeDo curriculum to build and program motorized robots. This is a fun class for both girls and boys, age 5 – 8.

Basketball After School (Grades 1-5)

Are your kids ready to have fun with basketball? This course is designed for young athletes to have an opportunity to learn and improve on their fundamental skills of basketball. We will develop these skills, such as passing, dribbling, shooting and more, through specific and proven developmental drills, playing 3 on 3 and playing 5 on 5 games. Bits, Bytes & Bots: 3D Video Game Making with Kodu (Grades 3-5)

Has your child ever wanted to build their own racing game? Here's their chance! Microsoft’s Kodu is a visual programming language (similar to scratch) that is used to create video games. Students will learn the basics of 3D game design by creating multiple games in this class. Conditional formatting will be mastered by the time they build their final project… a serious racing game. When skill behind the wheel isn’t enough, students create power-ups to stun their opponents including ray guns, land mines, force fields and more! Bits, Bytes & Bots: Makey Engineering (Grades 3-5)

Loving STEM doesn’t have to mean staring at a computer. Across the nation, Maker Education is exciting young minds about hands-on engineering. Our students move out from behind their desks to work together building room-sized computer projects, exercising their spatial reasoning and problem solving skills. We introduce students to Makey Makey™, a wildly popular tool that turns almost anything into a computer input. Students will learn while exploring the connections between technology, creativity and fun.

Bits, Bytes & Bots: Minecraft® Coding (Grades 3-5)

If your kids love Minecraft™ and spend hours moving blocks around and generally just clicking away, let us elevate their game. We will use redstone (in-game electricity) to help the kids make sophisticated traps and contraptions while learning about engineering and problem solving. We also introduce them to a game modification that we use several times to CODE inside the game. If they're going to play anyway, let's turn their passion into a massive critical thinking experience. Instruction provided by Bits, Bytes, & Bots. Note: This class is for new and returning Minecraft students. 75% of the contraptions/coding will be on the same level, but different applications as Minecraft Machinery.

Bits, Bytes & Bots: Video Game Creation (Grades 3-5)

Sneaky learning at its best! Capitalize on your kids’ love for video games by letting them build their own. Their imagination is the limit to what they achieve as they use GameMaker Studio™ software to create video games they can play on their computers without any special software. We use drag and drop programming to create exciting and professional looking games that they can take home and play with friends and family. Brainiac: Reading & Literacy Program (Grades K-2)

The Brainiac Reading and Literacy Program is designed to meet emerging and beginning readers at their developmental level to build and support language and literacy. This program incorporates reading, writing, oral language, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension all within the context of stories and books. The program is flexible and highly individualized, using whole group, small group and individual instruction to meet the needs of varying ages and developmental levels in one classroom. Drama Kids International (Grades K-5)

Whether destined for the stage or the boardroom, Drama Kids prepares children and young adults to speak up clearly with confidence, putting them on an easier path for lifelong success. Our acclaimed program encompasses a large volume of fun drama activities aimed at increasing confidence, self-esteem and verbal skills. These activities include: Speech, Creative Movement, Structured Improvisations, Dialogue Development and Mini-Scripts. Enthusiastic participation is encouraged. No wallflowers! No background characters! Everyone is a star and everyone participates fully! Fall semester includes a Parent Presentation and spring concludes with a Spring Presentation Performance with awards. iPianoLab (Grades K-5)

iPianoLab is a fresh, fun way to learn piano or keyboard. iPianoLab sets up a portable keyboard lab at school, with a keyboard and headphones for all participants! Students learn all the keyboard basics while learning to play songs they love. Whether it's pop hits from Taylor Swift or One Republic, game themes like Super Mario and Legends of Zelda, show themes like Star Wars or Spongebob, even the classics of Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, they're all in reach, right from the first lesson. iPianoLab isn't just fun, it's a progressive keyboard method that teaches all the basic keyboard skills, including note-reading, rhythm and counting, chords and much more. This fun group environment also includes learning games and interactive online help. Classes are kept small with a 1:9 teacher student ratio. Instruction is provided by iPianoLab.

Kids in Motion Hip Hop (Grades K-5)

Get your child active and groovin’ to age appropriate music and yoga inspired exercises. This hip-hop and fitness class is designed to encourage your young dancer to have fun and stay healthy through music and art. Students will learn the newest dance moves, as well as some old-school favorites! Young dancers will work on choreography and solo dance moves to be performed at the end of each semester. Instruction is provided by Onsite Youth Training.

Mad Science: STEMulating Science (Grades K-5)

Young scientists will encounter science in a fun, hands-on environment that incorporates the educational standards required by the STAAR test. Join Mad Science for an amazing session with a new topic each week! The topics for the Fall will include: All About Animals, Energy Burst, Life in the Sea, Mix It Up, Moving Motion, Radical Robots, Science of Magic, Fantastic Fliers, Super Structures and Under Pressure to give your junior scientist weeks of fun! Young scientists will learn all about life science, the physics of flight, Newton’s Laws of Motion, the secrets of magic and more! In addition, young scientists have the opportunity to continue exploring at home with their own take home projects after each lesson. All supplies included.

Robotics Clubs USA: Star Wars® Engineering (Grades 3-5)

Young engineers will take on the galaxy in building LEGO® vehicles and models found in the Star Wars® movie series. Robotics Clubs USA instructors will challenge students with questions about science fiction and engineering feasibility. Creative design discussions will help develop and leave students with a deeper understanding of basic engineering principles and the power of observation. In addition, students will examine each vehicle and discuss how one might recreate or reverse engineer a scaled static model.

Simply Soccer (Grades K-5)

SimplySoccerSA offers young athletes the chance to learn fundamental skills and terminology of the great game of soccer. Each week will consist of learning a new skill or two to include dribbling, passing, shooting and control. We will end each class practicing learned skills in a game like setting. At SimplySoccerSA we also focus on character, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take beyond the soccer field. All participants will be required to wear tennis shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Water for breaks and all equipment such as soccer balls, cones and goals will be provided.

Students will create some of their favorite motorized vehicles with Snapology! Students will learn about gear ratio, sensors, pulleys, cranks, and programming as they build trucks, space rovers, helicopters and much more. Your child is sure to have fun as they build, learn, and play using iPads® and robotics equipment provided by Snapology.

Creat’em and catch’em with Snapology in Pokémania! The world of Pokémon® will come alive as students create their own Pokéballs, gyms, battles and their very own generation of Pokémon® using LEGO® bricks. Science concepts will be incorporated in a fun way as students learn about Pokémon® evolution and build habitats. Students will have a blast becoming the best Pokémon® trainers in this hands-on learning experience with Snapology.

Texas Cheer (Grades K-5)

Students will learn all the basics of cheerleading, including cheer stunt instruction, jumps, motions and more in a dynamic environment. They will also have the option to perform in the Texas Cheer and Dance shows throughout the year, including a Spurs Game performance. Although optional, uniforms will be discussed during the first class. Instruction provided by Texas Cheer and Dance.

Developed by education experts, PGA and LPGA professionals, this program focuses on instilling a passion for golf, developing skills, having fun and building confidence. All equipment will be provided. Maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1. Instruction provided by TGA North San Antonio.
