Art Starz (Grades 1-5)

Calling all artists! Join My Art Starz in a semester exploring a wide range of mixed media that will ignite the creativity in every child. Students, ages 6 and older, will experiment with drawing, painting, acrylics on canvas, chalk pastels, watercolor, collage, clay sculpture and much more. Students are guided through a step by step lesson, giving their personal touch to their projects as they learn about color theory, shading & blending, patterns, as well as several other art concepts and techniques along the way. Students make personal choices, contribute ideas, work together and independently and nurture their imaginations all while having creative FUN! Each student will receive a set of note cards with a selected piece of their artwork printed on them. Supplies are of professional quality. A supply fee of $35 can be paid to My Art Starz by calling 210-945-4411, bringing payment the first day of class or by paying online at www.myartstarz.com. Tuition of $179 is to be paid separately to NEISD Community Ed.

B3SA: Superhero STEAM (Grades K-2)

We all love a good superhero and part of what makes a superhero “good” is having an open mind to explore and discover the world around them. In this class, students will study physics, engineering and chemistry through the eyes of a superhero! Using their natural curiosity about superheroes, students will learn to problem solve, make hypotheses, draw and test conclusions and learn how to strategically apply the engineering design process. Basketball Skills Academy (Grades 1-5)

Young athletes will take their basketball game to the next level with Valour Nation. Athletes will practice offensive skills and concepts such as shooting, passing, ball handling and much more. Small-sided games will be incorporated to teach key offensive concepts like the pick and roll, spacing and decision-making that will improve their basketball I.Q. Each skills academy session includes a character lesson to develop a champion's mindset that will set them up for success on and off the court.

Bits, Bytes & Bots: Coding in Minecraft® (Grades 3-5)

If your kids love Minecraft® and spend hours moving blocks around and generally just clicking away, let us elevate their game. We will use redstone (in-game electricity) to help the kids make sophisticated traps and contraptions while learning about engineering and problem solving. We also introduce them to a game modification that we use several times to CODE inside the game. If they're going to play anyway, let's turn their passion into a massive critical thinking experience. Bits, Bytes & Bots: EXTREMEly Engineering (Grades 3-5)

Calling all builders! Bits, Bytes & Bots of San Antonio instructors will introduce students to several different types of engineering and encourage problem solving along the way! Students will build projects involving motors, rockets, basic chemical reactions and good old-fashioned ingenuity. A $20 supply fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class for take home projects.

Brainiac: Reading & Literacy Program (Grades K-2)

The Brainiac Reading and Literacy Program is designed to meet emerging and beginning readers at their developmental level to build and support language and literacy. This program incorporates reading, writing, oral language, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension all within the context of stories and books. The program is flexible and highly individualized, using whole group, small group and individual instruction to meet the needs of varying ages and developmental levels in one classroom. Is your child the next Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney or Henry Ford? Do they have an interest in running their own business and getting their ideas out on the market? If so, then this class is for them! Students will explore their interests and will learn how to build a company around what they enjoy. They will also learn all about the basics of money to include budgeting, saving, debt, investing, and giving. YoungNtrepreneur instructor Claudia Lazaneo will guide the students on how to build healthy money habits early on for success in their future. All supplies are included.

Kids in Motion Hip Hop (Grades K-5)

Get your child active and grooving to age appropriate music and fun dance challenges. Our Hip-Hop class is designed to encourage your dancer to have fun, express themselves and stay healthy through music and art. Students will learn the newest dance moves, as well as some old-school favorites! Young dancers will work on choreography and solo dance moves then create music videos to share with family and friends at the end of each semester. Instruction is provided by Onsite Youth Training.

LEGO® Movie Part 2 Engineering (Grades 1-5)

The citizens of Bricksburg face new dangers when LEGO DUPLO® invaders wreck Emmet’s LEGO® world and everything in their path. The ultimate goal is to defeat the enemy and restore harmony to the LEGO® universe. Emmet, Lucy, Batman and the rest of their friends band together and visit faraway, unexplored worlds that test their courage and creativity. Robotics Clubs USA welcomes all students to join the team and use their super power of observation and engineering skills to rebuild and create a new LEGO® world where “Everything Can Still Be Awesome!®” An optional take-home project may be purchased from the instructor at the end of the semester for $15.

Mad Science: STEM-ulating Science (Grades K-5)

Young scientists will encounter the world of life and physical science in a fun, hands-on environment that incorporates the educational standards required by the STAAR test. Join Mad Science for an amazing session with a new topic each week! STEM-ulating Science will include the following topics: All About Animals, Energy Burst, Life in the Sea, Mix it Up, Moving Motion, Current Events, Fun-damental Forces, Fantastic Flyers, Super Structures, Under Pressure, the Science of Magic and Radical Robots. Exploration will continue at home with a take home project each class. All students are welcomed to join the fun and become a "Mad Scientist"!

Simply Soccer (Grades K-5)

SimplySoccerSA offers young athletes the chance to learn fundamental skills and terminology of the great game of soccer. Each week will consist of learning a new skill or two to include dribbling, passing, shooting and control. We will end each class practicing learned skills in a game like setting. At SimplySoccerSA we also focus on character, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take beyond the soccer field. All participants will be required to wear tennis shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Water for breaks and all equipment such as soccer balls, cones and goals will be provided. Classes will be held outside in the fields and will be moved into a gym on inclement weather days (to include days with extreme heat).

Snapology: Incredible Inventions Robotics (Grades 1-5)

Students will invent like never before using robots and LEGO® bricks in this hands-on class with Snapology! Students will explore the process real inventors go through to create new inventions while they design, build and program robotic machines to solve problems. Activities include creating alarm devices, robotic pets, detectors, robotic hands, vehicles and more using WeDo® 2.0 robotics equipment and iPads® to program the builds. All supplies will be provided.

Spanish Fun Club (Grades K-5)

This class is specially designed to help children learn Spanish through fun activities in a singular environment. We call it learning without noticing. The sessions are taught entirely in Spanish. The classes provide plenty of opportunities for kids to enjoy the Spanish language and begin speaking on day one. By learning Spanish your child will acquire a competitive advantage for life! Texas Cheer (Grades K-5)

Students will learn all the basics of cheerleading, including cheer stunt instruction, jumps, motions and more in a dynamic environment. They will also have the option to perform in the Texas Cheer and Dance shows throughout the year, including a Spurs Game performance. Although optional, uniforms will be discussed during the first class. Instruction provided by Texas Cheer and Dance.

Developed by education experts, PGA and LPGA professionals, this program focuses on instilling a passion for golf, developing skills, having fun and building confidence. All equipment will be provided. Maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1. Instruction provided by TGA North San Antonio.

Uplifted Performance: Athletic Development (Grades K-5)

Uplifted Performance and Fitness offers students the chance to enhance fundamental athletic skills plus body and movement development in a fun, interactive team environment. Each week will consist of learning a new skill or two with increasing challenges in agility ladders, hurdles, cones and medicine balls that will develop both physical-cardio-vascular health and confidence. We will end each class practicing and drilling the learned skills that will help students transition into other sports. At Uplifted Performance and Fitness we also focus on a positive attitude, teamwork, leadership and helping others which young athletes can take with them beyond the training and into the home, classroom, playground and team sports settings. All participants will be required to wear athletic shoes (no sandals/flip-flops/heeled shoes or boots will be allowed to play for safety reasons). Students should bring a personal water bottle to class each. All fitness equipment will be provided.
