Art Starz - Online (Grades 1-5)

Calling all artists! Under the guidance of My Art Starz, young artists will explore various drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting techniques through step-by-step weekly lessons. Students will have a blast adding their own personal touch and unique style to their artworks as they draw and paint animals, a gingerbread house covered with treats and candies, and more. This is a distance learning class where students have the ability to access each guided video lesson at their leisure. A live show and tell each week will allow students to show their work and ask questions. Show and tell will take place on Fridays from 3:30 - 4:00 PM. Instructions for accessing video lessons and optional show-and-tell will be emailed by the instructor. The first lesson will be released on Monday, September 28. Following the American Ballet Theatre Curriculum, students will engage in learning the etiquette and ritual of basic ballet technique, simple steps, and jump combinations to strengthen coordination and creativity. Required dance attire for girls includes a black leotard, pink tights, and ballet shoes. The required dance attire for boys includes a white tee-shirt, black shorts, white socks, and black ballet shoes. This is a distance learning class held through Zoom. Instructions for logging into Zoom will be emailed by the instructor before the first class meeting. Instruction is provided by San Antonio Ballet School.

Bits, Bytes & Bots: 3D Video Game Making - Online (Grades 3-6)

Has your child ever wanted to build their own 3D video game? Here's their chance! Microsoft’s Kodu is a visual programming language, similar to scratch but more advanced, that will help your child master the art of conditional formatting. Students will learn the basics of 3D game design by creating multiple games in this distance learning class with Bits, Bytes & Bots of San Antonio. Students will create power-ups to stun their opponents, create unique one and two player games, master sound effects and more! This course emphasizes creativity, problem solving, and adaptability. Students should download the software directly from Microsoft (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10056) prior to class. Technology requirements include access to two devices, one non-Apple computer to build the games and a second device phone/tablet/2nd laptop to watch the instructional videos. Bits, Bytes & Bots: EXTREMEly Engineering - Online (Grades 3-7)

Calling all builders! Bits, Bytes & Bots of San Antonio instructors will introduce students to several different types of engineering and encourage problem-solving along the way! Students will build projects involving motors, paper rockets, hydraulics, and good old-fashioned ingenuity. A supply fee of $29 includes multiple motors, 3’ PVC pipe, battery clip connectors, and more and is payable to the instructor by visiting http://sa.bitsbytesbots.com/fall-2020/. Bits, Bytes & Bots: Stop Motion Movie Magic - Online (Grades 3-7)

Turn dreams into reality using stop motion animation and digital post-production editing to create short movies with Bits, Bytes, & Bots of San Antonio. This introductory class teaches students the basics of incorporating special effects and storyboarding, enabling them to experience the overall movie making adventure. Each week, the students will receive a step-by-step guided video lesson that will show them how to create multiple films that could include: brick films (LEGO® movies), object animation, graphic animation, or claymation. Technology requirements include access to two devices, one computer with an external camera plugged in to a USB port to create the movies and a second device phone/tablet/2nd laptop to watch the instructional videos. Breakdancing - Online (Grades 3-5)

Breakdancing is the most athletic and acrobatic branch of hip-hop dance. Young dancers will learn the value of hard work, determination, commitment and repetition through positive reinforcement and fun-filled challenges. Distance learning classes will incorporate a fun, safe and efficient pathway to learning breakdancing starting with basic hip-hop dance moves then transition to more challenging breakdancing concepts under the instruction of Onsite Youth Training instructors. Beginner to intermediate students will learn how to become a chess master! Students will learn strategies and piece placement through virtual puzzles as well as the history of chess and where the game is headed. Quizzes, strategic chess tactics, live competitions, and tournaments through Lichess.org provide an interactive space for students to learn and grow in their chess abilities with Complete Chess. Chess is a great game that has many positive benefits to include critical thinking skills, mathematics, spatial memory, planning, strategic thinking, and more. This is a distance learning class. Students, get ready for an art expedition with Imagine Arts Academy! Let the wonder and beauty of the animal kingdom inspire your empathy, curiosity, and creativity. Students will learn about lions, elephants, sharks, and more as they find out how wildlife conservationists are working to protect species around the globe. Students will experiment with a variety of art techniques and use Crayola® products to create animal-inspired art projects from frog paintings to polar bear sculptures. Creativity will run wild as young artists build a menagerie of animal-themed masterpieces. Tuition includes the shipping of hands-on supplies to the student's home. Snapology: STEAM LEGO® Masters - Online (Grades 1-5)

On your mark, get set, build! Students will build and engage online as they learn engineering and architecture concepts with Snapology. STEAM design challenges include The Great Tower Challenge, Bridges, modes of transportation, city planning, building an ecosystem, and more and will be sure to keep their minds active. While the student will have the screen on, their focus will be on the LEGO bricks and other materials they have in front of them, just as if they were in person with us. The core of the program is focused on building, creating, designing and problem-solving. Students should have a gallon-sized zip-lock bag worth of LEGO®s available for each class. Other materials like a pencil, paper, ruler, and a small ball may be used in some activities. This is a distance learning class held through Zoom. Using breakout rooms to divide students into small teams, students complete assigned tasks to unlock the secrets of Escape Snapology! Discovering clues, solving puzzles, answering riddles, and decoding secret messages will challenge students' STEM skills as they problem-solve their way through escape games. The team that escapes the fastest is given ultimate bragging rights until their record is crushed by a new team! Sticky Fingers Cooking - Online (Grades 1-5)

Let your children release their inner master chef with Sticky Fingers Cooking! Professional chef instructors will guide kid chefs by providing safety tips and culinary expertise, but it’s the kid chefs who do the prepping and the cooking using equipment typically found in the kitchen. Topics include MUG-nificent After School Sweets, MUG-nificent After School Snacks, and Meal THYME Sheet Pan Cooking for a variety of snack and meal options. Our online recipe collection is included as well for loads of future family cooking fun at home! Sticky Fingers Cooking is 100% nut-free. We can and will accommodate any food allergies. TGA Premier Junior Golf - Online (Grades K-5)

Developed by education experts, PGA and LPGA professionals, this program focuses on instilling a passion for golf, developing skills, having fun, and building confidence. Designed to challenge students of all levels, STEM topics, safety, swing mechanics (grip, aim, stance, and posture), equipment use, and more will be discussed through pre-recorded lessons that students can complete at their leisure. Optional Wednesday live sessions will provide students the opportunity to ask questions, dive deeper into the curriculum, and learn additional tips and tricks from the instructor.
