Aikido and Tai Chi for Self Defense

Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Aikido are both internal martial arts that rely on generating and controlling internal energy (qi or ki) rather than muscular strength, making internal arts an excellent choice for self-defense for smaller, older or less fit individuals. This training will allow you to control and redirect aggressive energy from assailants so their power dissipates. This permits you to defeat larger, stronger opponents by using their own strength against them. Qigong breath and movement training is fundamental to the development of centered balance and proper flow of energy. Taught by Dr. James Clark.

Modified Pilates & Yoga

Do your hands and wrists hurt in downward dog? Are your lower back muscles and hamstrings tight? Maybe you need a longer warm up before starting your workout. This workout will start with large flowing movements to increase body heat, blood flow and range of motion to your joints and muscles. Stretch, breathe and relax in this wonderful class designed specifically for seniors. You will strengthen your physical body, learn easy meditations and enjoy doing Kundalini Yoga with licensed instructor Madeline Hernandez.
